Curriculum
We are joyful about learning
for learning’s sake
OUR APPROACH
In America, classical schools are the most successful schools— in career preparation, resilience and mental health. We are one of a handful of new Catholic grade schools in the country, and we do this in a classical way.
We teach through Socratic Questioning to foster student wonder and engagement. We prefer to teach children by original sources rather than textbooks. We believe in the power of classical elements such as teaching logic, imitation, handwriting, song, drama, poetry, dance, Latin, camping and hiking. We are systematic about how we teach virtue and moral development.
Our curriculum is designed to prepare students for success in high school and college in keeping with standards and benchmarks in math, language arts, science, and history.
-
We will teach our students the eternal truth of our Catholic Christian faith through daily Mass, Bible stories, Lives of the Saints, and Baltimore Catechism instruction.
Religion
-
Students will receive phonics and penmanship focused instruction. We will be using Wordly Wise Vocabulary Books and classics from A.A. Milne, J.R.R Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Shakespeare, etc.
-
Students will learn history and geography through literature and primary sources (the Declaration of Independence, etc). If we can examine primary sources, we can skip a lot of author bias in books and look at the actual documents that made history.
-
Students will participate in Latin prayers and songs. We will also be using Prima Latina Latin Textbooks
Humanities
-
Students will study Saxon Math, a cumulative curriculum that teaches students that Math has a logical order and concepts that build upon each other.
-
Science is the study of the physical world, that is, of God’s creation. None of these subjects can be approached without a sense of wonder.
Math & Science
-
Students will participate in daily outdoor exercises and play. We will also offer sport demonstrations and field trips.
-
Students will participate in our volunteer taught classes such as drama, dance, STEM etc.
